Sheilagh Hunt’s career has included independent dance artist/choreographer, visual artist, costume designer, and illustrator. Before turning to dance, Sheilagh taught physical education in Canada and Australia. After attending Dalhousie’s Costume Studies program she worked for thirteen seasons in the wardrobe department at the Charlottetown Festival while also creating costumes for local Nova Scotia theatre, dance and film productions. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1995 from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. During her dance career Sheilagh performed for local companies and created her own work. She was the Artistic Director of Kinetic Studio for many years, and served as a member of the board of directors of Dance Nova Scotia. In 2011 she received the Nova Scotia Established Artist Award and the Diane Moore scholarship award. She now enjoys teaching Adult Contemporary dance classes at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts.
