One of the finest acoustic halls in Halifax, the LPCH is in constant demand
by producers such as the St. Cecilia Concert Society, Dalhousie
University Department of Music Faculty Recitals, CBC Radio and the
Halifax Kiwanis Music Festival, as well as
Conservatory student and faculty concerts and
recitals.
It has comfortable seating for 250
and elevator access to the second-floor
space. The high arched ceiling and wall
of windows create an elegant space in
which to hear its two grand pianos, the
fine Dowd harpsichord, or any other combination
of acoustic instruments including
our own string orchestras.
The LPCH is also
the scene of performances by the MCPA
School of Dance’s smaller productions.
MCPA dance and music students have a
unique opportunity to gain performance
experience here in their "own house".
The gently-sloping carpeted floor at the
rear leads to a floating hardwood front
floor which doubles as a dance studio
and performance stage. The LPCH has also been a venue for fundraising
events with tables and chairs set up in cabaret-theatre style.
