Although Logan’s primary instrument in university was trumpet, he has had a secret passion since a young age. Regardless of instrument, he has always been an avid improviser. From teaching himself to play blues on the piano, to his classical studies on both piano and trumpet, to his explorations on various other instruments, Logan has found that, for him, the joy of music is not in the form or genre, but in the expression. He endeavors to share this experience with every lesson he teaches.
Logan studied orchestral trumpet at the University of British Columbia, completing his master’s degree in 2014. He then went on to teach private trumpet and piano lessons at international schools for over two years. His travels took him to far off locations such as the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia. He has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, and Westben Festival Orchestra. He received his grade 8 RCM certificate in grade 12, and has continued to develop as a piano player since then, particularly as an improviser.
