Ellen Gibling obtained her degree from McGill in 2009, studying classical harp with Jennifer Swartz. She has additionally studied orchestral performance with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Irish music in courses at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival, and improvisation in Halifax’s Creative Music Workshop.
Currently based in Halifax, Ellen enjoys an active performing career in orchestral, chamber, Irish, and pop music genres, and is the harp instructor at Acadia University’s School of Music. As a chamber musician, she plays in Conundrum, a duo with flutist Jack Chen, and the Traffic Light Trio, with Jack and violist Sue Sayle. She is also half of Ragged Robin, an Irish traditional duo with flutist and singer Erin Dempsey, and is a member of the band The Heavy Blinkers.
Ellen teaches both classical pedal harp and lever harp, and is happy to work with students of all ages and levels.
