Jennifer Publicover, Head of Woodwinds

Jennifer Publicover is a multi-genre flutist, teacher, arranger, and composer. She plays the modern orchestral flute, the Irish wooden flute, and the Baroque flute. She instructs the MCPA Traditional Music Ensemble and is involved in conservatory chamber music and early music initiatives. Jennifer is a member of the neo-traditional trio Papilio, whose debut album, “First Flight” was nominated for a 2014 East Coast Music Award and a Music Nova Scotia Award. She has experience as a classical orchestral freelancer with such groups as Symphony Nova Scotia, the Stadacona Band, and the Charlottetown Festival Orchestra, as well as decades of teaching classical and celtic flute and music theory. Her pedagogy is tailored around the musical goals of each student, including Royal Conservatory exams, university entrance auditions, orchestral auditions, traditional and early music forms, and sheer enjoyment and personal development as well.
