Jennifer Publicover, Head of Woodwinds

Jennifer Publicover is a multi-genre performer on the modern orchestral flute, the Irish wooden flute, and the Baroque flute, as well as a teacher, arranger, and composer. She directs the Traditional Music Ensemble and Baroque Ensemble at the Maritime Conservatory. Jennifer is a member of the neo-traditional trio Papilio, whose debut album was nominated for a 2014 East Coast Music Award and a Music Nova Scotia Award; they are releasing their second album this year. She has experience as a classical orchestral freelancer with such groups as Symphony Nova Scotia, the Stadacona Band, and the Charlottetown Festival Orchestra, as well as decades of teaching experience. Her pedagogy is tailored around the musical goals of each student, including Royal Conservatory exams, university entrance auditions, orchestral auditions, traditional and early music forms, and sheer enjoyment and personal development as well.
