Anna Plaskett, BMus, CMT, MTA, is the Maritime Conservatory Music Therapy Program Department Head. Anna spent her formative years learning violin and french horn in the Conservatory building back when it belonged to the Halifax City School Music Department, and is excited to be back working in this historic building filled with musical memories. Anna has over 18 years experience as a music therapy clinician, supervisor, presenter and entrepreneur with her former practice, Heartsparks Music Therapy. Anna holds a Bachelor of Music Performance, Michigan State University (2001), a Certificate of Music Therapy, Acadia University (2004), Level 2 Internship Supervision Training, and is a Certified Music Therapist in Canada. Anna has served as the Resource Chair, Continuing Education Chair & Vice President for the Atlantic Association for Music Therapy and Conference Co-Chair for the Canadian Association of Music Therapists. In 2019 Anna received a Service Recognition Award from the Gordon Foundation for Children and Youth.

Anna has a special interest in combining music, movement and mindfulness into her practice and has recently been expanding her education in somatic movement techniques. Anna also performs children’s music with her band ‘Anna and the Astronauts’. Her children’s album, To the Moon & Back, was released in 2017.
