Originally from Owen Sound, Ontario, Diana Rutherford started her dancing career in both Ballet, and Highland Dance. Once a highland competitor representing Canada at the Cowal Highland Games world championships in Scotland, Diana continued her dancing career in Ballet and Highland, performing across Canada and the United States.
Jana MacGregor was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and began dancing with the DancEast Young Company in Moncton, New Brunswick. After high school, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Anatomical Sciences at McGill University and continued her dance studies in the professional training program at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre.
After graduating from Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto in 1969, Jane studied in England, Holland and Germany. Influential early teachers included Betty Oliphant, Nancy Kilgour, Daniel Seillier, and Grant Strate. She performed with the National Ballet of Canada from 1972-78, dancing Romantic, Classical and Contemporary repertoire.
Kathleen Doherty is a dancer, choreographer, improviser, and teacher based in Halifax, NS. She attended Decidedly Jazz Danceworks’ Professional Training Program in Calgary from 2009-2011. Upon returning to Halifax in 2012, Kathleen co-founded the non for profit dance company, Votive Dance and has worked as Artistic Director since its inception.
