Ellen Gibling is a harpist based in K’jipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia, who plays classical, Irish traditional, free improvised, and pop music on pedal and lever harps. She holds a BMus in harp performance from McGill University, and an MA in Irish Traditional Music Performance from the University of Limerick. As a classical harpist, she has performed with Symphony Nova Scotia and has toured with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. Ellen’s current focus is performance in small ensembles, and she is a core member of Conundrum, Ragged Robin, New Hermitage, The Heavy Blinkers, Harpaflöjt, and Síle. In addition to teaching at the Conservatory, Ellen has been an instructor at Acadia University, the University of Limerick, and the Canadian International Summer Harp Institute. She is currently working on a solo album of Irish traditional and newly composed tunes which will be released in the fall of 2021.
