For string players ages 6 through 14 of all levels. Playing music together is a wonderful opportunity for creativity, fun and friendship. Every day will include chamber music, technique & repertoire classes, rhythm & movement classes, arts & crafts and outdoor recreation. Weekly highlights include: improvisation, creation and performance opportunities. The camp will wrap up with a performance for family and friends!

A week-long introduction in brass instrumental performance for students aged 8-18 with at least one year of experience on their preferred instrument (trumpet/cornet, horn, baritone/euphonium, trombone, tuba/bass). The purpose of the camp is to foster and inspire the education of brass students, through the brass instrumental medium. The camp will provide both individual and group instruction (sectionals, master classes, and large ensemble), culminating in a performance at the end of the week. Instruction will be provided by Conservatory faculty and guests and will serve as an opportunity for future youth brass programs at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts.

Great news! This summer we are again offering our popular summer theory intensive camps at different levels for those students who are too busy to attend weekly theory classes during the academic school year. The camps are 10 days long, each spanning two weeks of 3 hours a day for a total of 30 hours. These Camps will prepare you for the History 9, Harmony 9, 10 & ARCT, Analysis ARCT, Theory 6 or 8 theory examinations of the Royal Conservatory of Music this August.

The MCPA Summer Musical Theatre Intensive will focus on vocal technique, acting through song, and audition prep. This week-long intensive will offer an opportunity to expand your repertoire, enhance your audition skills and broaden your network of friends and industry professionals. Learn practical techniques to book your auditions and industry skills to expand your knowledge of the Broadway biz. Join New York City trained musical theatre professionals Katie Cochrane and Patrick Maubert and industry master class practitioners as they guide you through discovering what makes you shine!
Students will rotate between sessions on vocal technique, acting through song, musicality, repertoire selection, music/ audition cuts, industry expectations, performance anxiety, mock auditions. The week culminates in a public showcase performance. A number of scholarships and bursaries are available for this course.
Time: 10am – 5pm (Friday evening performance)

Camp days will feature music and dance classes, arts and crafts, and outdoor play. The week of camp will culminate in an exciting demonstration for family & friends.

Intensive study for serious dance students aged 12+ with a minimum of two years dance experience. Daily focused technique classes in a variety of dance styles including ballet, pointe (if appropriate), repertoire/variations, modern, jazz, composition, and conditioning. Study with our own renowned faculty and guest artists to boost technique and confidence in a supportive environment. A great preparation for the fall season. Billeting available for out of town students.

For ages 5-12, including those with no experience. Designed for children who wish to explore a variety of movement forms. Dance classes will include ballet, jazz, modern and more! Camp days will also feature arts and crafts, outdoor play and workshops on everything from creative composition to music. Each week of camp will culminate in an exciting demonstration for family and friends!
Time: 9am – 4pm, with extended supervision available.

A unique opportunity for young dancers wishing to further their individual strengths and abilities in a supportive environment. Dancers will develop their artistic skills by participating in ballet, jazz, modern, character dance and composition classes tailored to elevate technique and inspire creativity. Workshops throughout the week will also allow them to explore dance history, anatomy and more! Each week of camp will culminate in an exciting demonstration for family and friends!

Cellists of all levels, welcome! Centered around cello ensemble, this program offers many opportunities for cellists to play with one another. Each participant receives individual lessons, chamber music coaching, interactive lectures, guided movement breaks and more. A great opportunity to improve your cello skills in a friendly environment with social time and a final concert.

Always wanted to learn how to play the violin? This is your opportunity! In a group setting you will learn the foundations of violin playing together with other adult participants. No previous experience is needed!
Time: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7pm-8pm

Inspired by the famous pedagogical work ‘Basics’ by violinist Simon Fischer, adult participants will learn to improve their playing techniques. Our class subjects will vary daily and we will work on bow hold, tone production, key strokes, as well as left hand shifting, intonation, and vibrato.
