Tim received his Bachelor of Music in Composition and Piano from Dalhousie University in Halifax [2001], and a Masters of Music in Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston [2004].

In Halifax, Tim has been active in both the performance and teaching of improvised and creative music. As an educator, he has been active in the community in a wide variety of settings including Jazz, Classical and Popular Music, and has taught Piano privately since 2004.

Tim is also a faculty member at the Fountain School of Performing Arts where he has taught Jazz History, Popular Music History, Improvised and Contemporary Music, Theory and Aural Skills.
