Susannë Brown studied violin and viola growing up in Halifax, and then went on to do a Bachelor of Music in performance at McGill University with Douglas McNabney. She continued her studies at Boston University, and then completed a Master’s degree in Musicology at the University of Western Ontario, where she studied with Ralph Aldrich.

Susannë conducts three of the string orchestras offered at the Conservatory: the Prelude and Presto Orchestras are for beginning and intermediate string players, and the Adult String Orchestra is for amateur adults. These ensembles perform in the community and often combine for concerts during the year.

Susannë is one of very few teachers in the Maritimes holding a Certificate to teach Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a method of teaching music with and through movement. The Dalcroze method is internationally recognized as a proven approach to teaching students of all ages, and is an ideal compliment to, or preparation for, instrumental lessons.

Susannë enjoys performing and teaching, and has been teaching violinists and violists of all ages and levels for the past two decades at the Conservatory.
