School of Dance

Why be a conservatory school of dance student?

Scholarships, prizes and bursaries are available to you

You can attend workshops and master classes with nationally and internationally recognized artists at nominal cost.

Studios and the Lilian Piercey Concert Hall are available to you for rehearsing and performing

We encourage students, teachers and parents to communicate.

Your programs are offered in an atmosphere of vibrant artistic activity and collegiality.

Our teachers are highly qualified professionals with certification from the Royal Academy of Dance, the Cechetti Society, or the Canadian Dance Teachers Association. Teachers of young child dance classes are trained in developmental movement and child psychology.

The Conservatory School of Dance provides the only post-secondary training for performers and teachers in the Maritimes.

We offer enriched diploma programs for students in their early teens and older. These include classes in theory, history, anatomy, French and Italian terminology and Benish notation.

Your dance performance opportunities include annual junior and senior recitals, full length original ballets performed by children and young adults, concert dance performed by the Conservatory Ballet Ensemble (COBA), Souvenir Folk Dance Ensemble and guest appearances elsewhere in the Maritimes. Our students are going places!

You are encouraged to participate in examinations through the RAD and/or the CDTA at all levels of study. Exams in the upper levels of ballet are also available through the Cecchetti Society.
