The Maritime Conservatory’s Dean of Music, Neven Prostran is a musician, educator, and arts administrator with over 15 years of experience in the field. Holding a Bachelor of Music (University of Toronto, 2013), and a Master of Arts in Musicology and Certificate in University Teaching and learning (Dalhousie, 2017), Neven fuses his formal classical training with a passion for rock, jazz, and pop music. Neven has taught in one-on-one, group, camp, school, workshop, masterclass and university settings. He enjoys approaching his lessons from multiple dynamic perspectives, giving his students a thoroughly unique understanding of musical concepts, and their role in the broader musical context. His educational philosophy states that music should be enjoyable, fulfilling, and accessible, and that the most effective learning comes from a reciprocal dynamic between student and teacher. He enjoys learning new music, skills, and taking on new challenges.
