Hayley grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where she trained primarily at the Leica Hardy School of Dance through the Pre-Professional Training Program. She was a founding member of KiDanCo, the school’s resident Pre-Professional company for emerging dance artists. Hayley danced in 7 consecutive seasons of The Nutcracker with Symphony Nova Scotia, including soloist roles. Hayley has had opportunities to train across the country, including summer intensive programs at Canada’s Ballet Jorgen, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the Quinte Ballet School of Canada.
Hayley has trained in a wide variety of ballet methodologies, including the Society of Russian Ballet (Vaganova Method), the Royal Academy of Dance, and the Cecchetti Method. She is an Associate member of the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association ballet and stage jazz divisions.
Hayley attended ‘Cecchetti Day’ the National Majors Workshop in Toronto in 2018. She was chosen to attend Canada’s National Ballet School’s ‘Take the Lead’ 2020, a weekend conference for young women leaders in the dance community. She was also a community representative for NBS’ Sharing Dance Day 2020.
In March of 2020, Hayley obtained her Associate teacher’s certification in the Cecchetti Method of classical ballet (CC-CICB) under the mentorship of Jane Wooding. She has also completed her Cecchetti Canada Advanced 1 ballet examination.
In June of 2020, Hayley graduated from the Dance Teacher Training Program at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, receiving the Gunter Buchta Prize.
Hayley was selected as Mocean Dance’s Emerging Artist in Residence in September of 2020. Throughout her residency she choreographed and presented a new work and led community outreach activities.
Hayley is a passionate teacher who is continually learning. She is especially committed to furthering her study of the Cecchetti Method.
