Intensive private studies in harp pedagogy and performance
Katherine Fitch Loza is a harpist based in K’jipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia, who plays classical, Celtic traditional, and pop music on pedal and lever harps.
In 2000 Katherine began studies at The University of Western Ontario in the Honours Performance program with Lori Gemmell. After graduating in 2004 with honours she left London for 2 years of studies in Toronto with internationally acclaimed harpist Judy Loman.
Katherine has performed with Orchestra London Canada and Brantford Symphony Orchestra. In 2008 she was harpist on Celebrity Cruises’ Constellation travelling the Caribbean and Baltic. Followed in 2009 and 2010 by contracts as harpist on Azamara Club Cruises’ Azamara Quest travelling the Mediterranean and Asia.
Katherine is now providing live music throughout the Maritime provinces for private events on both Celtic and Classical harps. She collaborates in performance with flutist Kimberley North as Duo Tranquillo. She is Music Director of Our Lady of the Assumption Chapel at 12 Wing Shearwater.
Katherine maintains a busy teaching schedule between her home studio and the Conservatory, teaching all levels of harp in a supportive encouraging environment. She has guided a number of students to win Gold medals for their Conservatory exams. She is passionate about sharing her love of the harp with new harpists.
