Sinéad White - Voice

Bachelor of Music & Master of Music: McGill University
Doctor of Musical Arts: University of Toronto

Praised for her “luminous soprano” (The Whole Note) and “dreamy vocals” (Oxford Daily Info, UK), Irish-born soprano Sinéad White has appeared as a soloist with organizations such as Symphony Nova Scotia, Opera Atelier, Capella Regalis, Victoria Baroque, the Toronto Bach Festival, Early Music Vancouver and the Kamloops Symphony. She also has performed regularly with ensembles such as the Theatre of Early Music, Choir 21, the Elora Singers, Toronto Mendelssohn Singers, Trinity Bach Project and Tafelmusik Chamber Choir.

She and lutenist Jonathan Stuchbery founded Duo Oriana, and their debut album How Like a Golden Dream is available with Leaf Music thanks to the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and FACTOR Canada.

Sinéad holds a DMA in Historical Performance from the University of Toronto and both her Bachelor and Masters’ degrees in Voice/Opera from McGill University. Further artistic training includes her time as a young artist at the Boston Early Music Festival, a Masterclass Residency with Les Arts Florissants and an Art of Song Fellowship at the Toronto Summer Music Festival.

Sinéad completed two years of graduate level voice pedagogy coursework at the UofT and has since maintained a private studio online. While based in Vancouver, she was on faculty at the Delta Community Music School, where she prepared students for RCM examinations and annual recitals, and frequently worked with students seeking greater ease in their choral singing.

Here in Halifax, Sinéad sings with the All Saints Cathedral Choir, Helios Vocal Ensemble, and the Chapel Choir at King’s, and is delighted to join the voice faculty at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts. In her spare time, Sinéad is often baking, enjoying a barre class or out on a neighbourhood walk with her partner and their whippet Peter.
