Soprano Dr. Jennifer Farrell appears regularly with professional Canadian ensembles in the fields of oratorio, opera and choral repertoire. In western Canada she has performed as a soloist with the Vancouver Bach Choir, the Vancouver Symphony, MusicFest Vancouver, Vancouver Voices, the Vancouver Opera, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, the Victoria Philharmonic Choir, and the Pacific Baroque Orchestra. In eastern Canada she has appeared as a guest soloist with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Opera Nova Scotia, Symphony Nova Scotia, Maritime Concert Opera, Cecilia Concerts, the St. George’s Consort and Les Jeunesses Musicales du Canada. Her undergraduate studies were completed at Wilfrid Laurier University, and she went on to earn a Master of Music degree and Doctor of Musical Arts degree with specializations in opera at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Farrell is also active as a voice pedagogue, adjudicator, clinician and examiner, and regularly lectures in her areas of specialization, voice production and baroque opera. An active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, in 2011 she attended the prestigious NATS Intern program, and in 2014 she was the recipient of a NATS Independent Teacher Fellowship. Dr. Farrell was a voice instructor at Mount Allison University from 2011-2013, at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts from 2013-2017, and at Acadia University from 2017-2019. She was named ‘Teacher of the Year’ by the Nova Scotia Registered Music Teachers’ Association in June 2021, and is pleased to once more be on faculty at the Maritime Conservatory.
